De "doar" o lună: autobiografia lui Eric Clapton.

Reviu cu niscaiva citate... da' o fi voie?
"All that is now
All that is gone
All that's to come
and everything under the sun is in tune
but the sun is eclipsed by the moon."

Citat
So poignant were the tales of human suffering emanating from Romania that since December 1989 the name of Nicolae CeauÅŸescu has become synonimous with dictatorship of the worst kind. Yet the paradox remains, that in the face of such hardship, for much of the 1980s, there were relatively few signs of revolt or dissent in Romania. The high level of coercion exercised by the state was obviously one reason for this, but two other explanations were offered by western analysts at the time, one broadly cultural in orientation and the other structural. The cultural view was best expressed by Michael Shafir, who, searching for an explanation for passivity, stressed the lack of a tradition of autonomy in Romanian political culture and the deep roots of peasant conformity, with its tendency toward resignation and fatalism grounded in mysticism and the Orthodox religion. These traits were supposedly expressed through the folk ballad MioriÅ£a, in which a young shepherd warned by a female lamb of the murderous schemes of his companions still passively awaits his death. The clearest exponent of the structural view was Steven Sampson. He also drew upon cultural factors in searching for an answer to the question of passivity, but took them to markedly different conclusions, when he stressed the individuality of Romanians and their apparent lack of faith in social organizations. Instead of passively conforming, he saw the Romanians as actively scheming to bypass the most unpleasant aspects of the system and to secure goods and services through the informal economy. Family and friends supplied the food that ensured that despite the shortages there was no famine in Romania. And, although there was am oppressive level of formal censorship and uncontrolled public life was at a  minimum, with restaurants and other places of entertainment closing by the early evening, a high per capita ownership rate of video cassette recorders meant that inside their homes many Romanians were watching the latest western films.

Asta e patria.
